I had a problem with Web Platform Installer wouldn't install anything, I thought this might be an issue with asp.net or WCF, so I tried to reinstall asp.net and it will now not install all. I am having this same issue on 3 different servers.
All are windows 2008 R2 64bit web ediiton
all I get in event manager is
Installation failed. A restart is required.Roles:
Web Server (IIS)
Error: The server needs to be restarted to undo the changes.
what I have already tried.
1. I have completely removed and re-installed IIS
2. I have removed the WAS service
3. I have run the .net cleanup tool
These are pretty much the 3 solutions suggested on every topic I have found on this issue. I have spent many hours googling the issue and haven't got anywhere.
If I try to install .net 3.5 features, I also get this error.
.NET Runtime Optimization Service (clr_optimization_v2.0.50727_64) - Service reached limit of transient errors. Will shut down. Last error returned from Service Manager: 0x80029c4a.
