We have windows 2008 r2 server with Hardware RAID controller. There are 2 groups. Group 1 is having two hard drives in RAID0 and Group 2 is having 3 harddrives in RAID5.
The hard drives is RAID 5 are having 3 VDs. Since last 1 week, whenever there is a power outage or we unplug the power (2-3 hours with no power) and then restart the server, the 1st VD in this group is not initialized in OS. And if we initialize the same gets formatted and we loose the entire data. The hardware vendor has verified the case and they have not found any hardware issues. Their argument is, if there is any problem in RAID or the hardware all 3 VDs will become inaccessible while here only 1 VD is not getting initialized.
