Windows Server Manager Configuration Refresh Fails

In Windows Server 2012 r2 datacenter the Windows Server Manager Gives The Following Error

"The system cannot access one or more event logs because of insufficient access rights, file corruption, or other reasons."

Logged In As A Administrator And Tried The Following:

/sfc scannow

dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /restorehealth

What do I do?

How to schedule a task using SYSTEM account with console window open

I wanted to auto create schedule task and avoid using specific user credentials and thus decided to use SYSTEM. Also require with console window open when the task is running.

Here is the sample batch file command.

cmd /k ipconfig /all

If I configure the task scheduler with user account and "run only when user is logged on" then I am getting the expected result of running task with console window open.

Is it possible to configure with SYSTEM account and can expect the same result? So that all logged in users can see the log flying by the window.

MMC error on win2k8

On Windows 2008 64bit I get MMC could not create the snap-in when I try to open the Server Manager or Event Viewer.

Cannot start Windows Server Backup Utility, 2012 R2

I am trying to configure backups on my 2012 R2 server, I installed the "Windows Server Backup" feature through server manager, but upon restart the wbadmin utility is nowhere to be found.

The server has not been activated yet, I was wondering if that would stop me from using wbadmin?

Windows 2012 R2 Task Scheduler

I have three questions about Task Scheduler on Windows 2012 R2 and I hope someone would educate me, thx

1. How do I enable History? by default, it is disabled. It says online that select a task scheduler, in Actions, enable all history, but no such item 'Enable History' in any drop-down menu in Task Scheduler.

2. I schedule a ps1 script to copy file from local to remote server and it got error 0x103! Is there a site at Microsoft that lists all the error code for windows 2012 r2 task scheduler? I don't have much luck looking for that!

3. What Event ID would be for Task Scheduler?

how to configure on windows 8.1

DNS Publishing of KMS Service

The DNS entry that is needed can be tested with the nslookup tool:

nslookup -type=srv _vlmcs._tcp.company.com

If the SRV entry cannot be resolved, the missing bit can be entered manually in the DNS Server:

  • Name of Service: _vlmcs._tcp
  • Type: SRV
  • Priority: 0
  • Weight: 0
  • Port: 1688
  • Hostname: kmshost.company.com

Only DC in Domain Crashed tried backup (Asigra)

I have a network I recently became Admin of. The Only Dc in the Domain crashed. I tried to restore with Asigra from our ISP, but Asigra only restores files I had to rebuild the server then use Asgra to restore all the files. The issue is I still don't have a DC in the domain!!! I cant add the server because there is no DC to Authenticate to. Is there any way to get this server on the domain.

hi there !

My server manager is unable to show roles and features. I have been running System Readyness tool now several times and managed to fix all corrupt/missing files, all of them from KB948609, except one, the one mentioned in the report below. I am unable to find the file among the KB948609 files. Could anyone help me locate the file ?

ADFS 3.0 client certificate authentication display with no result on WAP

I have the setup as ADFS 3.0 client authentication method enabled. When I open browser to logon, the ADFS 3.0 page displays a message as "Select a certificate that you want to use for authentication. If you cancel the operation, please close your browser and try again." the certificats are displayed from internal when browsers access directly to ADFS 3.0 Server but the certificates are displayed for selection when I use external acces througt Web Application Proxy (WAP) with TCP port 49443 enabled inbound on the firewall between the clients and the Web Application Proxy (netstats show Etablished state on 49443 of the WAP with no resluts

It smells it's the only requirement is :

if client user certificate authentication (clientTLS authentication using X509 user certificates) is required, AD FS in Windows Server 2012 R2 requires that TCP port 49443 be enabled inbound on the firewall between the clients and the Web Application Proxy. This is not required on the firewall between the Web Application Proxy and the federation servers).

Allow Remote Desktop for Windows Server 2012

I have read all I can find but I still haven't been able to get RDP to work on my 2012 Server. RDS is turned on along with about everything else I have read about. Can anyone provide a plan on how to enable this.  Please do not provide the link to the 2008 installation as I have no idea how to find Start on 2012..... Have not found any information on making the server discoverable, which is what I think the issue is. Not sure if this is a good question as I have never got any response prior to this.
