Server Manager 2012 losing servers
Hi,
I have a problem with Server Manager 2012 and roaming profiles. I have a RDS deployment containing around 9 servers: several TS (RDS) boxes, and the associated infrastructure (connection broker, web access, SQL etc). Roaming profiles are also enabled in the environment for all users, including administrators.
If I add all the servers into Server Manager on one computer, say TS01, it all looks fine. If I log out of that box and back in again on the same server everything is still OK. However, if I then log off that server and into another, say TS02, I find that TS01 is missing from server manager. If I then re-add it, log off, then log into another server, say TS03, I find that TS02 is then missing.
It seems that whichever server I was last logged onto goes missing when I log onto another server. My understanding is that Server Manager should work fine with roaming profiles (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/hh831456.aspx). I can get around the problem by always logging into the same server for administration but it's sometimes necessary to perform tasks from another server.
Any thoughts please?
Many thanks.
Matt

CLR20r3/MMC/%systemroot%/DNS Failure/Installer Failure
Before you redirect me to another post regarding this topic (especially concerning CLR20r3), I have scoured the internet, trying every conceivable option at my disposal. This is a big post (in terms of the problems I'm having), so thank you in advance for your input.
THE RUNDOWN:
So this was a 2008r2 server in-place upgraded to a 2012r2 server. I am having the following issues (which did not exist in 2008r2):
1) CLR20r3 when booting servermanager.exe
2) I cannot load in MMC snap-ins....for basically anything. This means I can't get into the logs mmc to view whats going on.
3) I cannot install programs on this machine. Some suggestions have proposed installing new chipset/graphics drivers, the only problem is that I think there is some permissions debacle that is not allowing anything to be installed.
4) Lastly, this server is randomly losing its DNS addresses. Every hour (or so), I have to go into IPv4 properties and manually reset them. None of my other 2012r2 servers have this problem. Thoughts?
STEPS CURRENTLY TAKEN TOWARDS RESOLUTION:
1) Re-installed .net 4.5.2
2) Run the sfc /scannow
3) Cleaned the temp and %temp% folders
4) Tried (with little success) to update/re-install drivers
5) Deleted the user config file in C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Microsoft_Corporation\ServerManager.exe_StrongName_m3xk0k0ucj0oj3ai2hibnhnv4xobnimj\10.0.0.0\user.config
Again, any help is really appreciated. I'm really starting to worry about this server, since it goes into production soon.
Thank you!
Matthew

Migrating User Profiles (But from a server where you cannot install any programs!)
So I have a 2012r2 server that is totally bonked up. I need to get the data off of it before wiping clean, however.
You can read about the specific issues I'm encountering here: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/c466476a-5e60-439b-9a3c-2cc58ae4de36/clr20r3mmcsystemrootdns-failureinstaller-failure?forum=winservermanager
I've migrated profiles before with great success using both FSMT and RichCopy. Unfortunately, I cannot install either of these programs. Also, I cannot get into the server backup MMC.
How would you suggest to migrate these profiles?
Thank you,
Matthew

IIS Manager in Server Manager not Connecting to Server
I am running Server Manager from the RSAT Tools on an administrative workstation. I have no problem connecting to my remote servers and installing features or anything else. When I use the IIS Manager from within the Tools menu it defaults to my workstation IIS Manager and I cannot manage IIS on the remote server or connect to it. There is no option to connect to the remote server. Can you only manage IIS on a Windows 2012R2 server by installing the full GUI and installing the IIS Management Tools? How can I use the IIS Manager located in the Tools menu in Server Manager to manage IIS on the remote server?

ADFS 3.0 client certificate authentication display with no result on WAP
I have the setup as ADFS 3.0 client authentication method enabled. When I open browser to logon, the ADFS 3.0 page displays a message as "Select a certificate that you want to use for authentication. If you cancel the operation, please close your browser and try again." the certificats are displayed from internal when browsers access directly to ADFS 3.0 Server but the certificates are displayed for selection when I use external acces througt Web Application Proxy (WAP) with TCP port 49443 enabled inbound on the firewall between the clients and the Web Application Proxy (netstats show Etablished state on 49443 of the WAP with no resluts
It smells it's the only requirement is :
if client user certificate authentication (clientTLS authentication using X509 user certificates) is required, AD FS in Windows Server 2012 R2 requires that TCP port 49443 be enabled inbound on the firewall between the clients and the Web Application Proxy. This is not required on the firewall between the Web Application Proxy and the federation servers).
source : https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn554247.aspx#BKMK_7
All sources tell that 49443 is the only requirement

This event is generated when a logon request fails. It is generated on the computer where access was attempted.
The Subject fields indicate the account on the local system which requested the logon. This is most commonly a service such as the Server service, or a local process such as Winlogon.exe or Services.exe.
The Logon Type field indicates the kind of logon that was requested. The most common types are 2 (interactive) and 3 (network).
The Process Information fields indicate which account and process on the system requested the logon.
The Network Information fields indicate where a remote logon request originated. Workstation name is not always available and may be left blank in some cases.
The authentication information fields provide detailed information about this specific logon request.
- Transited services indicate which intermediate services have participated in this logon request.
- Package name indicates which sub-protocol was used among the NTLM protocols.
- Key length indicates the length of the generated session key. This will be 0 if no session key was requested.

Share and Storage Management .msc corrupt?
Hi all,
All my consoles are working apart from StorageMgmt.msc
Im running Web Server 2008 R2 with all latest updates and logged in as build in local Adminitsrator.
I tried:
1. Open directly C:\Windows\System32\StorageMgmt.msc
2. Open MMC.exe and add StorageMgmt.msc
3. Open MMC.exe and add another working console such as server manager = success
4. Logging as another user
5. Tried this solution: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\CONFIG
"I renamed the "machine.config" file to "machine.config.bad". I then made a copy of the "machine.config.default" file and renamed it to "machine.config"."
6. FSRM is installed in Features
7. Run SFC check - no probalems
This would suggest that issue is with StorageMgmt as everything else is working, any help would be appreciated
Thank you

Remote Management of Windows Deployment Services (WDS)
Hi
I'm running Windows Server 2012 (R2), WDS is installed and running fine. My problem is I have to be on the server in order to use WDS when I'd like to be able to run WDS from my Windows 10 client via Server Manager. Is that possible? When I right-click the server in question the context menu doe NOT include the Windows Deployment Service.
Grateful for any advice. Thanks.
