Console application service written in C#

Hi,

I have written a console application service in visual studio 2015 and installed/run it on windows server 2012. The service has a timer that should trigger a method in the code at a exakt time point. It runs and trigger the code at right time in the first day but on other days it run/trigger the code att three or four other time too. This type of code/service run on a windows server 2008 very good but not on a windows server 2012.

Does any body knows anything about this problem? does it depend on thread logic on the operative system of win 2012?

Server Manager 2012 is not starting.

When starting server manager in server 2012, I getting below message. Can not start server manager from any command. If you press Yes on the screen it shows the solution for windows 7. I tried that one but did not work. Can any body help me to solve this problem.

    ServerManager.exe - This application could not be started.

remote access vpn server 2008 issue

For some reason we can't connect to our VPN server from home but we can from work. Nothing has changed. No errors are showing up in windows 2008 server log. It tries to connect but eventually fails. I have checked all of the configuration and nothing has changed. I can do a wire shark trace on the server and it sees my home IP address coming in. The only thing that has happened is a power loss once but still work connections are okay. I did have to reboot the server in order for the work access to start working again but the remote users had no luck. I hope I have posted to correct forum

Server manager - Unable to manage RDS collections

Hello,

We have a problem that comes up quite often on the server manager 2012. We manage several RDS collections with for each collections several RDS server.

Sometimes one of the RDS servers on a farm crashs (the RDS blocks on "Welcome" when logging in) and as long as the server is not restarted, we can not do anything on the server manager.

If we restart the server manager, we can see in "all servers" tab that the failing RDS remains in the status "in progress" in the column "Manageability" and thus no action is possible on the collections as long as The failed RDS server is not restarted and the status does not go online.

How do we get around this problem and continue to manage our collections even with a failing RDS server in a collection?

GPO update on client machine

Hi Good evening all, I have an issue with group policy applying on client computers.

I have one forest ABCD.NET with 2012 R2 two DC’s 

I have a mixed environment with Win7, Win8 and Win10 OS client machines

ISSUE: All linked Group Policies are very slow applying on client machines.

* Client OS are deployed by creating WPS and pushed through SCCM (Win7,8 & 10).
* Some time policies will not apply or it take more time on applying policy on client machine.
* After policy applied its not reflecting / changing the settings on local policies. 
* But same thing i can see in RSOP results.
* More over i have many other issues in my environment to resolve.
Can some one please help me in identifying the issue here.

Hello,

I am unable to view Roles/Features in Server Manager on Server 2008 R2. I found this thread here but there are differences t my problem so it didn't work. I ran the Readiness Tool that was suggested and this is the output:

Scheduled task not running on Windows Server 2008 but working on Windows XP

Hi,

I have created a console application using .NET 3.5 framework for fetching data from the oracle database and sending it as an attachment via email.

Using the task scheduler I have scheduled a task to run the console application's .exe file at 9 AM every day.

The task is scheduled properly and works fine on a Windows XP machine and doesn't work on windows 2008 server.

When the task is run for the first time on XP and installation prompt is displayed. Once the installation is done from the next time onwards the task is getting executed as scheduled without any issues.

In case of windows server 2008, I did not get any installation prompt, so I went ahead and double clicked the .exe file to install it on the server and scheduled it. I am getting a 'success' message every time it executes, but the data is not being sent as a mail which means the .exe program is not executed. I have used domain credentials as well as the machine's administrator credentials to verify this.

I have also checked the firewall settings and there is no issue with it as it is turned off.

I have checked the logs in event viewer, but no error messages have been logged.

Please let me know if there is a solution to this issue.

Increasing the space in the server

Dear All,

We have a server in which the C drive space is almost full. We are running sharepoint in the server.

My Secondary D drive has lot of free space and I am planning to move some space to C drive.

Will the default steps (Shrinking space from D , it becoming unallocated and then expand C drive space) is recommended or should I install any softwares like partition magic to do so. I am using Windows Server 2008 R2. Also would like to know if doing the above steps will affect the server/application in anyways.

Please advice.

GPO filtering issue

Hi Guys, i have come with the new issue. 

I have a many policy including user configuration and computer configuration and both in one GPO.

Here i observe that policies are getting applied on users and computers only if I add authenticated users in GPO Filtering.
I have checked there is no conflict in the policy and not added in denay policy. Can you please help with few technical solutions to solve this.

Hi,

Visual studio is install on machine which in  not a part of client domain, after connecting the client vpn. need to open the visual studio with client credentials. But  that visual studio is not opening with that credentials

Installing Roles/Features results in blank error

I have 3 servers now that are running Server 2016, both standard and datacenter editions.

On all servers when I try to install any Roles or Features, immediately after clicking Install, the installation progress shows an error symbol, but never present any sort of error message to help troubleshoot what the issue is.

I've checked event viewer but cannot find anything. Ive tried to locate ServerManager.Log but it is not generated anywhere i can find. 

If i could find SOME sort of error i could try to track down the cause but as of now i have nothing to go on. 

If I install the role/feature using powershell it installs successfully without error

Update: If the server has not yet been joined to the domain the installation goes fine. I am a domain admin and have tried installing using the local admin account and the installation is successful. It appears to be permissions related but i cannot find any denies.

Any help would be appreciated.
