Cant remove/disable Hyper-V

I am trying to remove Hyper-V, to be able to run VMWare. The uninstallion seems to work fine and Im prompted to restart, but after the restart its still there.

I have done this successfully many times, last time one or two months ago, so I guess there must have been another of these fix-whats-not-broken-update since then. Anyone have this problem? Any good way to find this error or a workaround?

(also tried: bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off, no difference)

Folder Redirection issue

Hi All.

I am under deep investigation about my folder redirection issue,

File server Windows Server 2008R2.

Client Windows 7.

Some users getting this error:

Failed to apply policy and redirect folder "Documents" to "\\xxx-file02\homes\Car\Documents".
 Redirection options=0x1001.
 The following error occurred: "Failed to redirect because the destination directory "\\xx-file02\homes\Car\Documents" is offline".
 Error details: "The network path was not found.
".

I really do now know is it araise. I did a small test:

1) Create a new user called :PelegIT

2) Logged in to the same computer and the suddently notice that the folder redirection worked!

So I'm trying to understand why existing users it stopped work and recevie the above error

more than 120 users are effected by this issue with regard to 40-50 that working properly.

Roaming profile in Server 2012

HI All,

I am using windows server 2012 r2, and having 60 users with roaming profile for each one. The Main Folder of the roaming profile is created in C-drive and shared. Now I like to delete the complete Roaming profile folder and contents/details from the active directory.

Can anyone guide/help me with a easiest way? Every-time from admin account I am trying to delete but server is showing that I have no permission to delete the folder.

VDS not listed in services

We are using Windows Server 2012 Std edition and i am getting issue with VDS as its not listed in service . How can i fix this issue tried using hot fix and SKD which i have downloaded from MS download website. This is our main server where we store all our data even we are using MS SQL server 2012 on same server if i install SKD do it disturb my other applications or data? Please advice ASAP as its very urgent.. backup has been stopped working bcuz of this service.

DNS Server Service could not started, Error 1722: RPC server is unavailable

We have two domain controllers.
PDC : Windows Server 2008 32bit
ADC : Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit
After updating windows of our Primary Domain controller there was an Error 1722 :RPC server is unavailable while starting DNS service. we had tried lots of options to start DNS service but could not start it.
After transferring FSMO roles from PDC to ADC we have reinstalled windows and make it as additional domain controller.
After updating windows we are facing again same DNS 1722 replication error.
Please support.

I am running Windows Server 2012R2 Standard as guest of an ESXi V6. The system was build nine monthes ago and several SAN volumes were added without any problem. This time I get the Server Manager stop working and close whatever volume I want to create, local or SAN, the drive being put online and initialized at the same time or not, rebooted in between or not. As soon as the Add Volume wizzard starts and displays the "Before you begin" page then I click Next and the crash happens with pop up:

DNS Issues

Hi Guys, i have brought another issue with the DNS. Please find the following image. I have multiple sites and following child domains. Each domain has multiple DC's.
Parent: Root.net has (Root_DC1 & Root_DC2)

Chile: Child1-no.Root.net(Child1_DC1 & Child1_DC2), Child2-DK.Root.net, Child3-SW.Root.net and Child4-BB.Root.net.
All DC's are in different sites.

I have opened a DNS mgmt on root.net dc under forward lookup zone _MSDCS_Root.net i have opened a NS record which list all DC's servers. What i have observed  is in that list 2 of the DC's is showing unknown. Please check the screenshot.


** I didn't see any replication issue.
** All DC's are properly listing
** Didn't find any DNS errors
** Resolving all DNS queries.

Am observing all my clients users and machines all are getting authenticated by other DC's (RODC)
We have provided Primary and secondary DNS Child1_DC1 & Child1_DC2 server ip address and we dont have wins configuration
As per the concept all clients and users should get authenticated bu DC1&DC2; this is how configured in sites and services.
But my users and system are getting authenticated to other DC Child4-BB.Root.net. There is no where related.

RDP session configuration host - Server 2012

I have the RD Session Host role installed on a 2012 Server but it is not visible via Administrative Tools->Remote Desktop Services.

I have read a lot about this being the "new" situation in Server 2012.  My need is to have remote desktop connections start programs as specified in the RDP client program tab.  This application startup applies to a select group of users - those that have that specification in their "program" tab.  Is it possible to add the "snap-in" so it appears under the Remote Desktop Services "container"?  All that is currently there is the Remote Desktop Licensing Manager.  This was a slam dunk under 2008 R2.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Customized Column for Event Viewer

Hello,

is it possible if we can have a customized column "Printer" which is not available by default ?

I looked "Details" tab and found Param 5 which is required.

if not, if can export a log file for only this particular printer

Hi,

I wonder if anybody has any updates with regard to this error; 0x08000FFFF. I have the old problem of trying to reinstall Desktop Experience on Server 2008. I have followed the suggeted soloution and uninstalled KB 973540/968816/945155/972145 without success. The original thread is now quite old, are there any other updates I should uninstall?

Hi Folks,

I have Windows Server 2012 Datacenter R2 hosted on VMware ESXI host. I am getting this error ' Server Manager is collecting inventory data. Wizard will be available after data collection finishes' whenever I try and click on Server Manager -> Add roles and Features tab.

Please help me trouble shoot same with some remedial actions.

incorrect function in partitioning the drive

please i need help i have a toshiba 1TB external and i need to partition it for school work and every time i plug it in and initialize the disk it would say incorrect function now i followed what the technicians have said in the command promt and it all works it can be selected if you type select disk but when i type detail disk it says 

status: online

then when it try to partition it

please help me i really need this drive for school work and nothing else my files are already at 500gb and my computer is slowing down

Running Server 2012 R2, using Administrator

Server manager is not refreshing, giving the error:

Automatic refresh - Refresh failed

The detail is : role and feature refresh failed with the following error: Server execution failed

I also cannot access Network Policy Server snap-in in MMC

Tried the following without luck:

* run SFC /SCANNOW

* run DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Can't delete Domain controller even in ntdsutil

Hi all

I got a problem when i tried to delete on offline domain controller from our AD.

It showed "Directory object not found" when i tried to delete from GUI.

I tried do this from Powershell too,

but I even couldn't find it  in the server list.

I still can check the properties of this server in AD, which  I found strange things in servicePrincpleName attribute.

It lacks all value with "ldap/ ......".

Is any other way to delete this DC, any suggestion

Windows server 2008 R2 - can't update driver through device manager - access denied

Hello,

I'm having trouble with Windows Server 2008 R2.

As Domain Admin, I want to manually add a new driver.

I open Device Manager, I choose "Add a legacy hardware" and choose my driver. The install process starts then I got a message "Access denied". 

I got the same issue when I try to update an existing hardware or I install another new hardware.

I did check GPO, folder permission, registry permission, I don't anything weird.

Any idea?

Install AD DS role while WEB SERVER role is already installed

  • Is it OK to install AD DS on Server 2008 Standard while the Web Server role is already installed?
  • The web server role was installed and we don't really need it, because we have an accounting application installed on the server and it should be used by multiple users.
  • Now if I install the AD DS role, will it be safe? Do I have to install that application again?
  • The application uses oracle database.
